Donna McDonald's The Siren's Call is an intriguing story that pulls you along through her fantasy world. I do not think it fits in the science fiction genre. It is more erotica, bondage, and borderline porno.

This is the third book of the "Forced to Serve Series" and it continues following the lives of those on board the rescue ship Liberator. Zade and Gwen, finally go through a formal bonding ceremony. .As with the previous books McDonald goes through great length to create strong willed independent women. Then, she sets out to destroy them with captivity and bondage. Most of their mates are as selfish and sadistic as their captors.

Many of the beings involved are centuries old and portrayed as enlightened, which makes their behavior even more ludicrous. Interesting characters abound, and in the beginning I thought the Forced to Serve part of the series sub title was in reference to Malachi who I thoroughly enjoyed. Then as I read on in the first two books, I thought the reference forced to serve was aimed at the crew serving on the Liberator. It has become painfully obvious to me that I was mistaken. These folks are forced to serve as sex slaves to their mates and every sick-o in the solar system.

If you like raw sex and demeaning behavior toward the female of the species, with an occasional abuse of a male, then this is your cup of tea. For serious Sci-fi, or Romance fans beware.

You can tell when a story is well written when you don't want to put the book down and, when you do, you "miss" the characters. At least that is how I feel about this series. Donna McDonald has such a great imagination.
The book had very engaging characters. There was just the right amount of danger and action to balance out the story line. I love how the characters admitted their love before the trouble started. Enjoyed how characters evolve from and include characters from other books.
This ship and it's crew are wonderful to spend time with! From the Demon of Synar to The Siren's Call! Empowered and loving, different species mating! Would that our own planet's inhabitants took this lesson to heart! Thank you Ms. McDonald for sharing your worlds with us!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book; infact the whole series! I'm itching for the 4th book as I cannot wait to see what happens to the characters that i have grown fond of.
I found all the books very detailed, romantic, entertaining and intriguing.
I've read all three, and once I had finished this one found myself reading them again.

This was a very nice series of books. Great reading, couldn't put it down! Loved the storyline.
I had a hard time putting this book down. I loved the characters and the way the author chose to slowly develope them. There stories are so realistic for a fantasy. I had to read the next novel in this drama. The stories are so rich and well defined. I felt like I could have been there with them. Love this author!!!
The Siren's call is the third book of the Forced to Serve series and it continues following the lives of those on board the rescue ship Liberator. It focuses primarily on Zade and Gwen, though not exclusively. As with the previous books I really enjoy the strong females; no doormats here. Their mates are equally as strong, resulting in a lot of 'coming to accords.' But the issues at hand are a lot more grown-up than in most PNRs, marital compromise, family, children, etc. Combined with the fact that most of the characters are old enough to be mature makes for a gratifyingly adult read (without feeling heavy or loosing its whimsy). There are a lot of interesting characters here that I look forward to meeting again, especially Malachi. He's my favourite. I did get a little tired of every planet in the solar system enslaving women in some fashion...or at least it started to feel that way. But it moved the story along and I can appreciate that.
